Twitter

Twitter is a free microblogging social media platform that allows registered users to broadcast short 140 character posts commonly known as "tweets". Users can post tweets, share content and send direct messages to other users on multiple devices whether it be a desktop, laptop or mobile client. Mobile clients can access the platform through Twitter.com or via the mobile application. The computer-based clients will need to access it through the website only.

Similar to Instagram, Twitter is known for its hashtagging and is a national phenomenon for social trends. Not only are hashtags used for the creation of trends but are used in multiple ways to target posts to a specific subject. With the relatively short character limit Twitter puts on a single tweet, you are restricted on how much information you can type but there are no limits on how many tweets you may post. Twitter also allows users to tweet photo, video, links, and gifs.

The Twitter community very broad and user tweet about many different subjects with different views. Twitter is like Instagram with its high profile celebrities that have accounts of the social platform. Individuals as high calibre as President Trump are active on Twitter.

Just like Facebook, Twitter is its nearest competitor in terms of the overall platform. Twitter also has a Business portion to the application, where you can do a lot of the exact same things as you can on Facebook.

However, Twitter does have some components and stands for a few different things than Facebook. The similarity between the two platforms is the component to be able to showcase your business by creating advertisements and managing them customizing them to your audience's needs. However, the difference comes between the interaction you have with your fans, customers etc. Twitter is a much simpler way to communicate in a more personable way with also the use of Hashtags. Twitter, in my opinion, is similar to LinkedIn with some differences.

Twitter is a social platform where blogging and writing is a big portion hence the category it is given as a "microblogging" networking site.
